The husband’s point of view — my husband’s take on the Thesmophoria

The other day my husband went and did grocery shopping while I kept our daughter entertained. Although he knows that the Thesmophoria is this week he got me a pomegranate (something not appropriate from Demeter’s point of view). He said he was thinking of things from the point of view of Hades wanting to get something for his wife.

This got me thinking a lot about how our points of view impact how we interact with the Gods. Is it always easier for each gender to interact with Divinity of that gender? Or is it more complicated than that? Personally, I think that it is time — indeed past time — for us to look the role that gender has played in the festivals with an eye towards helping create a stronger future for Hellenic Polytheism.
