Musings on the end of the year

The Solar year has just begun and the calendar year is ending in a few days. I find myself looking back on the past year with a mixture of feelings. On the one hand, I completed my self-imposed assignment of discussing each of the Delphic Maxims in turn. But on the other hand, I have not been able to discipline myself to write on a daily basis since that time.

In the coming year I hope to improve on my writing so that I have at least a daily entry on the subjects near and dear to my heart. These will, of course, include things that I want to put into a more accessible form but will not be limited to things that I have already written or things that are being written about in a predictable sequence. I will be including prayers for specific days and festivals throughout the year. If things go as I hope, I will also be including descriptions of rituals held in that time.

I will be dedicating much of this to my daughter Kalomira (Mira) and to the youth of the future so that they will not have to re-imagine as much as my generation has had to. This is a contribution that I hope to expand in the future to book format so that others will be able to share this in a more permanent form. I know that there are other, and perhaps better, writers in our community. I only hope that my offerings do not fall short of my best work.

And on that note, I finish this one.
